Rating by category:
The hotel is 20 feet from the metro. Wi-fi in the public area. Big and tasty crossaints for breakfast.
The bed in the double it's not for 2 persons but just 1,5. Very noisy spot, there are 2 bars just under the window with people screaming all the night long. The room lacks of mini-bar. Only 3-4 channels working on the tv.
Friendly staff. The location was great for what we wanted to do. It's only a 5 minute walking distance from the Plaza Royale. Lots of places to eat in the area. Metro is very close.
Overpriced for the room and quality that you receive. The decor is terrible. You walk into the lobby to find old, ugly, brown leather couches/chairs lining the walls. It smells of stale cigarette smoke. The room is of good size, but the beds and bedspreads are very old and torn. The continental breakfast is not worth it. You're better off going to the Starbucks around the corner.
Nothing apart from the fact it was 2 doors from the office where I had a meeting, so saved me a taxi ride.
Room scruffy and basic no heating in room or bathroom worst 3 star hotel I have stayed in noisy breakfast inedible and coffee machine broken so waitron fetched coffee from across the road (at least she tried)
Conveniently located for use of Public transport Close to a convenience store Availability of elevators
Breakfast is just a snack. No English tv channels
the location , is a very central area. and everything its near, metro station, bus station.
Good location The room facing the inner courtyard was very quiet, the room facing the street was noisy - ask for a quiet room. Beds pretty good but pillows thin
Reception area has unfinished building work and needs brightening up - looks gloomy. Plumbing noisy (could hear water running noisily whenever other bathrooms were used)
The hotel was conveniently located next to the Gran Via as well as the Plaza de España metro stop. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The air conditioner in my room wasn't working, and because the street is very noisy late at night, it was impossible to sleep. The next night, the staff was helpful and found me another room with a functioning AC. However, we had to look through many rooms, because quite a few of them did not have a working unit.
Very centric, close to many shops, restaurants, metro stations and areas of interest.
Other than the night doorman, the hotel staff is not attentive nor collaborative. The condition of the building is terrible. The noise from the street is not attenuated at all by the windows, and the sound coming from other rooms or the corridor comes through the walls. Not to mention that flushing the toilette, in any room, causes a loud roar. We could have lived with that, as we stayed for one night only, but what was unacceptable was the stained carpet, chair, bed sheet, night table and the questionable hygiene of the bath tub (we actually decided to wait for taking a shower until we are back home, rather than doing it there)
The location was fantastic
The hotel staff could of been more helpful about local attractions eg we asked where something was and he clearly didnt understand what we ment, was quite frustrating
Very responsive and courteous staff. Daughter was not feeling well with slight headache and possible cold symptoms. Receptionist was kind enough to provide some cold/headache tablets.
Water pipes pressure generates very loud noise that disturbs sleep. Since the hotel seems fairly old maybe it is time for a plumbing tune up.
This is not a 3 star level hotel, maybe 2 star. The hotel is very old and you see it everywhere - needs a renovation badly. We had a broken bed that was replaced the second night, and an empty bottle of wine waiting for us when we got into the room for the first time, probably from the previous guests. Not worth the price - pay a little bit more for a much better hotel.
At night staff was not there and the doors locked. There is not a bell to ring and if people do not go out from inside, you cannot enter. Blinds are broken, so yo do no have any light. Buzzing noise from old installations going all the time.
nothing i liked in the hotel
the hotel services is really bad, it should not be clasified as 3 star hotel,
Location was fabulous for the Palace, Cathedral, Plaza de Mayor etc.
Right next to the police station so for a Saturday evening it was noisy
The location is grand! You're just a crossroad away from Plaza de España, 5 minutes to the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) and from Debod Temple. The Gran Via is just around the corner, which then you can derivate to the main plazas, Puerta Del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Continuing on it takes you to the Museums avenue with Thyssen, Prado and further south Reina Sofia. The room and bathroom were clean. All in the bathroom worked as it was supposed to. The elevator works. The general looks aren't stellar but the location pays off really well, thus making it a huge bang for the buck. I'd probably stay in there again.
The decoration indeed needed a refreshment but the idea is to do sightseeing outside, not inside. Breakfast is poor but i guess getting some outside you'd end up paying more. The staff may have some problems with english. I didn't have that problem since i can speak some spanish but i witnessed some entanglement with another host, quickly solved with some language hickups in between. Nevertheless, the staff was always nice and warm.
